Autism Spectrum Disorder

Crisis

  • Palm Beach County CIT  CIT is a community partnership between law enforcement agencies, the local mental health and substance abuse treatment systems, mental health advocacy groups, and consumers of mental health services and their families. CIT is more than just training. It establishes teams of trained officers within each law enforcement agency to respond effectively to people with mental illnesses, including those with co-occurring substance use disorders that are in crisis. Over 700 law enforcement officers are now received this training in Palm Beach County. One should dial 911 and ask for a CIT Officer to respond to the call, possibly diverting the person to a treatment facility rather than to jail.
  • Mobile Crisis Provides emergency intervention, de-escalation, screening and assessment for individuals in emotional distress. Services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Mobile Crisis will go out into the community/home and assess the situation.  They may recommend community resources or, if they feel that there is a danger to self or others, they may determine that the individual needs to be Baker Acted.  If that is the case, they will call the police to transport the individual to the closest Baker Act receiving hospital.   • Alliance for Eating Disorders Awareness We offer educational presentations, support groups for those struggling and for their family and friends, advocacy for mental health legislation, a toll-free national phone help line, as well as referrals, training, support, and mentoring services, all free of charge.
  • Alpert Jewish Family and Children’s Services AJFCS is a nationally-accredited, non-sectarian agency serving individuals and families of all ages. With over two dozen focused programs, we have created a seamless network for helping families cope with life’s challenges.
  • Alzheimer’s Community Care, Inc. A Florida-based not-for-profit organization that provides specialized care to patients with Alzheimer’s and related disorders, and their caregivers. ACC is an innovative model of care that provides affordable services and resources to patients and their families, while preserving their dignity. ACC offers specialized adult day care, family nurse consultants, support groups, 24-hour crisis line, and dementia-specific education and training.
  • Catholic Charities Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Palm Beach is a comprehensive non-profit family service organization with offices located in Okeechobee, Martin, Palm Beach, Indian River, and St. Lucie Counties. All services are available on a non-discriminatory basis to eligible clients regardless of religious affiliation or ethnic origin. It offers counseling services on a sliding scale fee. Spanish speaking counselors are available at some locations.
  • Center for Child Counseling
  • Center for Family Services Palm Beach County Through CFS’s array of services and collaborations with other human service agencies, the Center seeks to facilitate positive change in families and consequently to communities to provide stable households for growth, health and prosperity.  The benefits of services provided by CFS provide a mechanism for disadvantaged family units, parents, teenagers and children to lift themselves out of a cycle of psychological and economic poverty.  CFS strives to preserve and strengthen individual and family life through professional, affordable counseling, early childhood education and homelessness prevention.
  • Chrysalis Center, Inc. Provides mental health and substance abuse counseling and targeted case management to children, adolescents and adults. Services include individual, family, and group therapy, day programs, psychiatric evaluations, medication management, psychological testing, and psychosexual evaluations.
  • Coalition for Independent Living Options, Inc. (CILO, Inc.) CILO’s mission is to promote independence for people with disabilities. CILO offers advocacy, information and referral, independent living skills, mental health counseling, peer support and group counseling as well as victim’s advocacy, after school and summer programs.

  • Multilingual Psychotherapy Centers, Inc. Multilingual Psychotherapy Centers is a comprehensive mental health center that has been serving residents of Palm Beach County for over 10 year. Our staff speaks more than 10 languages, including Spanish, French, Creole, and Italian. We offer medical/psychiatric services, psychological testing, individual/family/group therapy in the office, home, and school settings, as well as support and case management services.
  • Palm Beach Behavioral Health and Wellness Palm Beach Behavioral Health and Wellness is a comprehensive behavioral health practice servicing children, adolescents, adults, families, and couples. We provide therapeutic services, developmental, psychological, and psychoeducational testing.
  • Ruth & Norman Rales Jewish Family Services Provides a comprehensive range of out-patient counseling and support services for bereavement, families of individuals living with mental illness, and caregivers. Accepts insurance and offers sliding scale fees.

Guardianship

Hospitals and Mental Health Centers

  • GEO/South Florida State Hospital (ASH/SFSH) ASH/SFSH is the state owned, privately managed, psychiatric hospital for the Department of Children and Families, Districts 8, 9, 10, 11, 14, and 15. There are 325 beds for severely and persistently mentally ill people who cannot be successfully treated in a less restrictive setting in the community.
  • Jerome Golden Center The mission of the Jerome Golden Center is to help clients build resiliency, facilitate recovery, and achieve reintegration into the community by designing and delivering behavioral healthcare services that meet their needs and expectations.
  • JFK Medical Center (Main Campus) Their 31-Bed Unit combines an environment of safety and comfort for patients. Their program is designed to provide individualized treatment based upon each patient’s clinical needs. They provide adult acute psychiatric inpatient care and are a designated Baker Act receiving facility. They treat a wide variety of behavioral health diagnoses in a calm and soothing environment.
  • JFK North The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health Services offers comprehensive psychiatric and behavioral health services. The 88-bed inpatient unit is located adjacent to the hospital. Psychiatric needs of children, adolescents, adults and seniors are assessed and treated through a full range of programs that include individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, medication management, and aftercare. An intensive outpatient program and a partial hospitalization program are also offered. The Pavilion is the largest licensed Baker Act receiving facility that accepts children in Palm Beach County.

  • St. Mary’s Institute for Mental Health Provides inpatient hospitalization for adults 18 and over and has a special geropsychiatric unit as well as alcohol and drug detoxification. Intake is available 24-hours a day and psychiatric emergency response is available. The institute is a private Baker Act receiving facility and accepts involuntary patients for evaluation. Referrals from physicians, psychologists, mental health clinicians.
  • West Palm Beach VA Medical Center Provides comprehensive primary and long-term care in areas such as neurology, oncology, pharmacy, dentistry, physical medicine, psychiatry, rehabilitation, surgery, and extended care for Veterans. The West Palm Beach VA Medical Center also operates a Blind Rehabilitation Center which is the referral center for Veterans who are blind and/or visually impaired throughout the state of Florida.

PBCHA resolves to collaborate and partner with key stakeholders that also share the mission of affordable housing, self-sufficiency, and independent living.
  • Senator Philip D. Lewis Center Palm Beach County’s central point of entrance for homeless individuals to receive services. The center offers intake, assessment, medical services, shelter beds, vocational placement, and life skills training.
  • St. Ann Place St. Ann Place is the Church’s outreach center for services to homeless women and men. St. Ann Place’s mission is to witness gospel values by providing a comfortable, clean, safe place where clients receive services in a dignified and respectful manner regardless of race, religion, or gender.
